Description
Barley straw is a common type of straw used as a feed source for livestock, including horses and dairy cows. It is high in fiber and relatively low in protein and energy, making it an excellent source of roughage in the diet of animals. In New Zealand, barley straw is often fed to dairy cows during the winter months when pasture is scarce and as a source of fiber to maintain rumen function.
For horses, barley straw can be fed as part of a balanced diet, but should not be the sole source of roughage. It can be used as a bedding material and as a supplement to pasture or hay. It is important to note that barley straw, like all types of straw, should be fed in moderation to horses to avoid digestive issues such as impaction colic.

Payment is due on order. You will receive an invoice shortly after placing your order. An order is only approved for delivery once payment clears. Payment is held with Feed Finder until goods arrive with customer before any supplier payments are made.
Yes you’ll need suitable equipment and have experience with unloading feed safely from trucks, otherwise you could organise with a neighbour or contractor to give you a hand at your cost.
Feed Finder will manage the process and arrange the delivery of the feed to your farm. The chosen carrier will contact you directly with updated ETAs.
